Visual Analysis Workshop (8 Weeks)

The Visual Analysis Workshop covers the art periods and movements from 15th to 19th Century. The Workshop will teach the participants how to look at paintings from those periods and movements, analyse the visual and formal qualities and distinguish the styles of the periods from each other. The characteristics of each period/movement will be covered and Comparative Analysis approach will also be followed on different types of genres: portraits, landscapes, history painting, etc. The target of the Workshop is to enable the participants to develop skills to recognize periods/movements of typical paintings from 1400s to 1900s. The Visual Analysis Workshop will be composed of 8 lectures of 2 hours each and will be conducted in English.
Workshop Content:
– Understanding Elements of Painting
– Review of techniques and styles of:
* Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo
* Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Academic Art
* Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism
– Comparative Analysis: Portraits & Landscapes
– Comparative Analysis: Historical, Mythological, Religious & Genre Paintings
– Analysing mixed paintings from all periods
